H-e-l-l-o Denver!!!
H-e-l-l-o Denver!!!
Flew out to Denver Colorado this weekend to shoot the wedding of Emily & Mike. One of the highest compliments to me as a photographer is when a family likes me and my work so much they “keep me in the family” for other events – even the out of town ones.
That’s what happened with Matt & Crystal Johnston. When this sweet couple got married last November I had the honor of “capturing their love”. And I fell in love with them and their family: Upbeat mom, dad’s great sense of humor (loved the picture I took of him carrying his wife’s handbag), and Matt’s brother Mike and Fiancée Emily who were so in love they never saw me photographing them all gaga over each other.
Well, it turns out the family felt the same way about me and when Mike & Emily’s wedding planning went into high gear I got the phone call – “we want you to shoot our wedding” said Mike, “please come out to Denver”.
“Ok” I said without missing a beat - “Have camera, will travel”
The rehearsal dinner Friday was at the cheesecake factory downtown Denver, and Matt & Crystal who picked me up from my hotel gave me the full “downtown Denver tour” on the way. Loved downtown, especially the cheesecake factory street, and immediately got willing Emily & Mike to stroll down the street for me for some “urban shots”.
As I suspected the Johnston’s treated me nothing less than like family, and when Mike & Matt’s mother introduced me to Emily’s family and I got a standing ovation I felt like a rock star.
Dinner was great (my dish alone was enough to feed 20 hungry kids in Africa, oh the American portion sizes!), and I got to capture lots of laughter, and even some tears of joy.
As I am sitting here in my hotel room looking at the gorgeous Mountain View, still have Mike and Emily’s wedding to shoot today…can’t wait!
